Stocks post weekly gains despite disappointing daily session

Stocks finished the week higher, despite a disappointing session on Friday. Investor bullishness remains strong, as the full impact of President Trump’s return to the White House remains to be seen.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 each closed up 0.3 percent on Friday, while the Nasdaq lost 0.5 percent. All three indices, however, recorded weekly growth.

The Dow ended the week up 2.2%, after last week’s gain of 3.7%. The index posted its biggest two-week gain since late 2022 and its first consecutive gain of 2% or more since July 2023.
