Spurs in contact for the signature of the lethal “monster” worth £55 million

There wasn’t much to cheer about Tottenham Hotspur this season.

According to a recent report in an Italian magazine La Stampa via Sport WitnessTottenham are one of several sides who have been offered the Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic.

Apart from the Lilywhites, the report revealed that the Serbian agent continues to ‘keep contact alive’ with those sides who could make a move for the player, which includes Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

How much the Lilywhites could pay for the former Fiorentina star was not mentioned in the story, but reports from earlier this month suggest that could be available for around £55m.

He may not be at the top of Spurs’ list this month, but even if he is, Vlahovic is an incredibly talented striker and someone who could make a huge difference to the club’s season and last season. Daniel Levy and Co signed a contract with Juventus, things worked out pretty well.

Why should Vlahović be Kuluševski replay for Spurs

OK, before we examine some of the other reasons why Spurs should pursue Vlahovic this month, it’s worth exploring why such a transfer would be something of a repeat Kulusevski a few years ago.

Well, the first and most obvious reason is that, like the Swedish international, it would be another example of the north Londoners signing an exciting striker from Juventus in the January transfer window.

Moreover, it would be fair to say that despite his immense abilities, the Serbian international is currently seeing his importance for the Old Lady diminish as he begins his second game in a row on the bench on Tuesday night despite being fit again.

The same thing happened to the Stockholm-born star before he made his move, as he was restricted to just 973 minutes of action in 27 mostly substitute appearances.

With all that said, the north Londoners shouldn’t just be looking to sign the Belgrade-born star just because it would be a similar deal to Kulusevski from three years ago; they should look to bring him in as he is a brilliant centre-forward.

For example, despite the reduced minutes in Turin this season, the goal-scoring “monster”, as they call him analyst Ben Mattinsonstill found the back of the net on 12 times and two assists until the beginning in 25 performances, a total of 1894 minutes.

That means the 24-year-old marksman is currently averaging a goal every 1.78 games, or every 135.28 minutes for an incredibly mediocre Juventus side.

More so with Dominic Solanke now ready to spend for a while on the marginsPostecoglou’s need for a reliable striker is more acute than ever.

Ultimately, he may not be exactly what Spurs are looking for, but Vlahovic has shown himself to be an excellent striker over the last few seasons, and with three cups to go, Levy and Co can’t afford to miss out on signing him.
