Mikel Arteta’s team is laying the foundations for attacking reinforcements.

Cunha, who has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances for Vitor Pereira’s side in all competitions so far this season, is undoubtedly their star player with Wolves keen not to leave him in the middle of the relegation battle.

While the versatile forward has reached a verbal agreement on the terms of a new contract, according to reliable reporters Ben JacobsCunha is yet to sign on the dotted line as both club and player discuss a release clause – which could rise or fall depending on Wolves’ future Premier League status.

Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely and are believed to be in contact with Cunha’s entourage as they consider tempting him with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

“Matheus Cunha is yet to sign his new contract with Wolves despite verbally agreeing new financial terms,” wrote Jacobs on X.

“The parties are still discussing the release clause and potentially two different numbers based on Wolves staying and/or failing. Cunha has been offered a significant pay rise and even with a new long-term deal, Wolves will be understanding of Cunha’s desire to leave for the right opportunity in future windows.

“Arsenal are currently in contact with Cunha’s camp, but talks are only informal at this stage. Wolves still don’t want to sell in January and that position will only change with a crazy offer, possibly in excess of £80m. Wolves plan with Cunha for the second half of the season, but Arsenal remain ready for the opportunity.”

Sky Sports shares news on Matheus Cunha for Arsenal

After these reports, Fr Arsenal are making a move to sign CunhaSky Sports and reporter Michael Bridge shared their news.

According to Bridge and the broadcaster, Arsenal are indeed following Cunha amid his Wolves contract debacle, but any move for the South American would need to be a permanent deal as they used up all their domestic loan slots on Raheem Sterling and Neto.

“A source told us tonight that Arsenal are keeping an eye on Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha,” Bridge said Tuesday.

“That’s what we’ve been told. If you’re talking about a loan with maybe an obligation to buy, they’ve used both their domestic loans for Neto from Bournemouth and Raheem Sterling from Chelsea, so that means any move for Cunha would have to be a permanent deal unless Arsenal allow one of those players to return to their parent club.”

The 11-cap Brazil international has played in five different positions this season, including attacking midfielder, central striker, second striker, right winger, left winger and left midfielder, which suits Arteta to the core.

However, it is highly debatable whether the Gunners would be willing to part with Wolves’ £80m valuation.
