Six Nations: Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu ruled out of 2025 competition after pectoral injury | Rugby Union News

Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu has been ruled out of the 2025 Six Nations after suffering a pectoral muscle injury.

The Glasgow Warriors centre, who was considered a strong contender for the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia this summer, suffered the injury in training with his club and is due to undergo surgery this week.

Rory Darge and Finn Russell, who led the team together during last year’s Six Nations, will be co-captains in Tuipulotu’s absence.

Although Tuipulotu has been ruled out of the tournament, the fact that he is “expected to be back in action before the end of the season” should keep his hopes of being selected for the Lions alive.

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend lost another member of the 37-man squad he named last week, with second-row Scott Cummings breaking his hand playing for Glasgow and Leicester at the weekend.

A statement from Scottish Rugby confirming the injuries said there would be no additions to the squad “at this time” as Townsend prepares his squad for their tournament opener at home to Italy on February 1.
