Shakur Stevenson says he’d like to talk to Gervonta Davis on the phone to try to convince him to fight him without getting a promoter involved.
Tank might think it’s creepy that Shakur called him. He could see it as stalker behavior and be further delayed and change your phone number.
Tank’s contempt
Stevenson likes to try to arrange a fight like Terence Crawford did with Errol Spence in 2023. However, Shakur (22-0, 10 KO) doesn’t think Gervonta would go along with the idea because he has “some s**t against me. “
It’s true that Tank doesn’t like runners, and Shakur doesn’t belong in this era. His dated, archaic Mayweather style is from a bygone era.
It’s possible that Tanka (30-0, 28 KOs) was put off by Shakur’s desperate obsession with him, the mention of his name in interviews, his pursuit of influence to promote his fights and the fact that he’s not a fun fighter. Davis would be the draw in their fight, and Shakur would just be there as a cardboard prop.
If Shakur could build his own name by beating quality fighters and staying in the trade pocket instead of running, he wouldn’t have to beg Gervonta for a fight. Booing repeated fights out of boredom makes Shakur one of the lowest castes in boxing terms. He is not worthy to be in the presence of King Tank.

“I said, ‘Let’s go fight.’ What else do you want me to do?” Shakur Stevenson said to Shawn Porter YouTube channel about asking Gervont ‘Tank’ Davis for a fight. “When I went and did it with Devin, I was looking for strength. Now, I go and do the same things with Tank, and they’ll say, ‘He’s chasing power. He is jealous.’
“We are in a new generation. These people today have all these stories. I said, ‘Let’s fight.’ I said, ‘Send the contract and we’ll do it’. I am not delusional [person]. I’m not going out there to say anything.
“I’m not going to act like I’m the A-side and deserve 50-50 [for the Tank fight]. Brother, let’s negotiate and see where to go from here. I know I’m the B-side, but let’s fight,” Shakur said.
The king and the shortcut
Stevenson sounds dumb, thinking that all he has to do is say, “Let’s fight,” to get a fight against Gervonta. That’s not how it’s done. He needs to tackle the opposition better, stop the run, look good and stop the fans from booing him 24/7. If candidates only had to say, “Let’s go fight,” to get a chance to meet the king, they’d all do it. It doesn’t work that way.
If Shakur wants to take the shortcut to fighting Gervonta, he has to do something bold, like in the days of knights and King Arthur. He should move up to 154 and beat either Bakhram Murtazaliev or Vergil Ortiz Jr. If Stevenson does this, his popularity would skyrocket, and he would have no problem getting a fight against Tank.

“Yeah, sure,” Shakur said when asked if he wanted a ‘Million Percent’ tank fight. “Me and Tank, that’s the focus. It’s the biggest boxing fight. It’s a fight I’ll be well paid for. He paid a lot. He will make more money with me than anyone else. My focus is Tank. Me and Tank have to fight,” Shakur said when asked if he would be interested in fighting his good friend, Keyshawn Davis.
