Rotherham 3-1 Bolton

Rotherham piled the pressure on Ian Evatt as they cruised to a 3-1 win against his Bolton side.

The result led to calls for the visitors to send off Evatt.

Wanderers goalkeeper Nathan Baxter had to make an early save after Mallik Wilks sent Sam Nombe out.

Bolton went close when George Johnston deflected debutant Joel Randall’s shot just wide.

Wilks earned the Millers a penalty when he snuck in behind Ricardo Santos and was pulled down by a defender.

The on-loan striker scored from the penalty spot to give Rotherham the lead in the 34th minute.

A change of referee delayed the game before the break, with Alan Young replaced by fourth official Paul Cooper.

Rotherham doubled their lead in the sixth minute of stoppage time at the end of the first half when Reece James fired into the bottom corner.

Bolton missed a great chance to get back into the game when Dion Charles scored from close range.

Nombe broke through in the third after 76 minutes after Wilks’ shot was blocked before John McAtee scored an 86th-minute consolation after being put through by Charles.
