Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has shared his opinion on whether Rohit Sharma has played the last Test of his career or not. He believes that the captain of the team will get a proper send-off and that he will play for the team in the next series as well.
Rohit Sharma has come under extensive scrutiny for his poor form of late in Test cricket. Since the start of the Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team at home, the captain of the Indian national cricket team has failed to start a single match. From that moment he managed to hit only a half century.

Rohit Sharma’s poor form continued with the bat even in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The captain of the Indian national cricket team failed to get going in the three matches he played and also that confidence reflected in his leadership as he was not up to the mark.
Rohit Sharma played two matches in the middle order, and that move did not work, but after that he returned to the top in the Melbourne Test. However, he still couldn’t get going and ended up taking a tough call and opting out of the ongoing fifth Test, which is being held at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Rohit Sharma spoke to the media on the second day of the ongoing match and said that he has sided with the team. He admitted that he tried all the things but things were not going in his favor and hence he decided to quit the ongoing game and hand over the lead to Jasprit Bumrah.

With Rohit Sharma missing the match, there was a lot of speculation whether the fast bowler had played his last Test or not. But Robin Uthappa believes that it will not be the last game for the captain as he is a World Cup winning captain. He emphasized that he would get a decent send-off. Speaking in a video he shared on his Instagram profile, he explained:
“People have [been] thinking or speculating, ‘Will it be his last Test match? Won’t he play Test cricket again?’ In my opinion, I don’t think so. I think there are still six months until the next series of tests; Rohit is likely to be escorted there. He’s a World Cup-winning captain.”

Robin Uthappa added that people look at the negative side of everything. He admitted that although the striker has a difficult situation, he has been consistent for the team in other formats as well. He elaborated:
“With the intensity and losses of this tournament, people look at him in a negative light. Yes, he had a very bad year in Test cricket, but he was consistent in other formats of the game, and I think legends of the game deserve a decent send-off.”
Rohit has managed just 31 runs in the ongoing series at an average of around 6 in the series.
