Rishabh Pant to fight against 3 contenders as Sanjiv Goenka to announce LSG captain at…

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are all set to announce their captain for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to reports in RevSportz, it is learned that the franchise will announce its new captain on Monday (January 20).

Reports add that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) principal owner and RPSG group chairman, Sanjiv Goenka, will attend a special press conference at the RPSG headquarters in Kolkata on Monday. This will be big news in the context of the team’s future.

There will likely be a press conference to announce the new LSG captain or unveil the franchise’s new kit

In another report by IANS, it is learned that some franchise officials may have two things in mind at the press conference. First, the announcement of the new captain of LSG or the unveiling of the new jersey of the franchise. This is because some of the players will also be present.

Lucknow Super Giants had a great outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise picked up some big players in the auction, including Rishabh Pant, who became the costliest buy in history.

Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram are LSG’s options for a leading role

The need for a captain arose after the franchise decided to part ways with KL Rahul. The Indian national cricket team batsman has captained the team since 2022 and under him the team reached the play-offs twice before finishing in the League last year.

But this time they have several options to choose from. Rishabh Pant, who has captained the Delhi Capitals for the past few seasons, is expected to be the top contender. Alongside him, there is Nicholas Pooran, who was vice-captain last year, Australia’s T20I skipper Mitchell Marsh and South Africa’s T20I captain Aiden Markram.

LSG is likely to go with Rishabh Pant as the captain for the next edition of the Indian Premier League

It is likely that the franchise could go with Rishabh Pant as the captain as he is a big name in Indian cricket. Also with his experience as captain of Delhi Capitals, the wicketkeeper-batsman is likely to get a role in his new franchise as well.

During the last press conference, Lucknow Super Giants introduced former Indian left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan as the team’s new mentor. The franchise has produced some brilliant releases this time around, both in player setups and coaching setups.

It won’t be a surprise if they go through and win the title this time. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to start in the second half of March and BCCI is expected to announce the squad soon.
