The incident took place when Ashwin, who is very active on social media platform X after retirement, received a comment on one of his posts which read: “Australia thought they could clean us up,” an account with a username @Nishitha018 commented. However, since the account used Ritika’s name and photo, Ashwin thought it was indeed Rohit’s wife and immediately responded to the comment.

“Hi Ritika, how are you? Greetings to the little one and the family,” Ashwin replied to the impersonator’s post. The user continued to be Ritika and enjoyed the traction he got online after the response from Ashwin. “I am good Ashwin anna,” it answered back. However, then Ashwin realized that it was a fake account and deleted the entire conversation.

Ritika and Rohit have a baby boy

In his reply to the impersonator, Ashwin implied that he would send his wishes to the youngest member of Rohit’s family. The couple welcomed a boy in November 2024, their second child after being blessed with a girl, Samaira in 2018. Rohit gave up the first match Granica-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth and did not travel with the Indian team to Australia to be with his wife.
