The International Center for Cricket (ICC) revealed the Women’s T20I team of the year 2024 on Saturday, January 25th. Three Indian players, including the starter Smiri Mandhana, goalkeeper Richh Ghosh and a versatile Deepti Sharma player, were appointed to the prestigious female T20i team of the year 2024.
In 2024, the women’s cricket experienced a year full of actions, including the T20 World Cup and the Asian Championship. Two South Africans and one player from Sri Lanka, England, Western India, Australia, Ireland and Pakistan were involved in the team. South African percussion Laura Wolvaardt was appointed captain.
Smiri Mandhana, Laura Wolvaardt declared the introductors to the female T20i team of the year 2024.
Smiri Mandhana had a great form during 2024. She achieved 763 runs in 23 t20i with an average of 42.38, with a hit rate of 126.53, including eight Half-certuria. Smiri Mandhana played a key role in helping India to reach the Asian Cup final and achieved three consecutive Half-certuries against Western India.
Laura Wolvaardt, named the captain of the ICC women’s T20i team of the year, was the top scorer (223 run) at the World Cup for women T20 2024 and played a key role in southern Africa to the finals. Wolvaardt was chosen as the second team opener.
Chamari Athapathth, Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr Among the Middle A row
Veteran Sri Lanka Chamari Athapathth, Hayley Matthews of West India, Amelia Kerr of New Zealand and Nat Sciver-Brunt from England found themselves in a middle order. Athapathth led the team to victory in the Asian Cup, collecting 720 runs, including two hundred and four 50s, with 21 Wickket.
Hayley Matthews contributed to 538 runs and 14 Wickeke in 16 games. Amelia Kerr was named a World Cup World Cup player for T20 Women, scoring 387 points and dismissing 29 blows for White Ferns. Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 423 running for England in 16 matches and also won seven Wickkeke.
Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma included in the female T20i in that year 2024.
Richa Ghosh impressed as a goalkeeper striker 2024 with her aggressive style in a lower middle rank. Richa scored 365 runs with an average of 33.18 and a hit rate of 156.65. It started a year with an invincible 64 run without 29 balls with an explosive rate of 220.68 blows against UAE.
Deepti Sharma has made a significant influence as a versatile player, taking 30 Wickekets with an average of 17.80 and an economical rate of 6.01. She recorded figures of 3/13 against Nepal and 3/20 against Pakistan on the women’s Asian Cup. The 27-year-old versatile player won the doors in every game last year.
The remaining players on the team are Marizanne Kapp from South Africa, Orla Prendergast from Ireland and Sadia Iqbal from Pakistan. Laura Wolvaardt, Smiri Mandhana, Chamari Athapathth, Hayley Matthews and Deepti Sharma, along with Kappa, were also appointed in the ICC Women’s Play team 2024.
