Premier League clubs reveal the fate of PSR after the 2023/24 season
The Premier League has not brought any charges against clubs over profit and sustainability rules for the 2023/24 season.
The new financial regulations have caused considerable concern for a number of clubs in the top English league. Everton and Nottingham Forest were stripped of points for non-compliance last season, with several teams forced to drastically adjust their transfer plans for fear of their own sanctions.
I like it Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United all were deemed to be at risk of breaching during the 2023/24 campaign but, as first revealed The Timesall 20 parties avoided charges.
However, Leicester City are still fighting a legal battle with the Premier League over sanctions related to the 2022/23 season.
“Questions concerning the Premier League’s jurisdiction over Leicester City Football Club in relation to the PSR [Profitability and Sustainability Rules] compliance is currently the subject of confidential arbitration proceedings,” the league said in a statement.
“Accordingly, neither the league nor the club will make any further comment at this stage on any aspect of the club’s compliance or otherwise with any PSR or related rules, other than to say that the league has not made any complaint against Leicester for any breach of the PSRs for the period ending in the 2023/24 season.”
