Player ratings as Savinho & Haaland shine in convincing win

Manchester City recorded a convincing 4-1 victory over West Ham United on Saturday to claim their second successive Premier League victory.

West Ham looked sharp on the counter-attack early on, but their sloppiness was punished in the tenth minute when the home side took the lead. Vladimir Coufalo’s unlucky own goal gave them the lead and Savinho’s arrowing cross struck the Czech defender’s shin before curling beyond the wrong-footed Alphonse Areola.

Man City flexed their attacking muscles as the half drew to a close and secured a significant second three minutes before the break. The energetic Savinho kicked out Erling Haaland with a precise cross, and the Norwegian made no mistake and headed past Areola.

The same duo combined as Man City quickly put the game beyond doubt ten minutes after half-time, Savinho releasing Haaland and the imposing centre-forward running into Konstantinos Mavropanos before chipping Areola.

Things would get worse for the visitors just three minutes later as some wayward passing gave Man City their fourth. Kevin De Bruyne pounced on Mohammed Kudus’ mistake and found Phil Foden who slotted home with ease.

West Ham would have reduced the deficit with 20 minutes added time as Niclas Fullkrug flashed over Stefano Ortega, but it was little more than a consolation after another disappointing performance putting pressure on Julen Lopetegui.
