Palestinians in Gaza celebrate ceasefire | News about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Celebrations broke out across Gaza after ceasefire in the war-torn area went into effect on Sunday morning.

The ceasefire was announced more than two hours later than planned because of a dispute between Israel and Hamas over the naming of prisoners to be released under the deal.

Earlier on Sunday, Hamas named three prisoners it plans to release later in the day.

Israel’s government approved the cease-fire on Saturday in a rare session during the Jewish Sabbath, more than two days after mediators Qatar, Egypt and the United States announced the deal.
