Overseas sales of the phone fell 47% due to spelling problems in China for Apple

Sales of foreign phone brands in China fell in November, according to official data released on Friday, underscoring further pressure on Applethe largest international supplier of mobile devices in the country.

In November, foreign shipments of mobile phones in China totaled 3.04 million units, according to CNBC calculations based on data from the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).

This is a drop of 47.4% compared to November 2023 and a drop of 51% compared to October last year.

CAICT does not break down the figures for individual brands, but Apple accounts for the majority of foreign mobile phone shipments in China, with competitors such as Samsung making up only a small portion of the market.
