Montage of Senate Democrats vowing to oppose Trump’s bad policies mocked as ‘cringe’


Senate Democrats released a video on Thursday to communicate their priorities ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, but the video was met with criticism that it was out of touch and “creepy.”

Sen. Cory Booker, DN.J. he shared the video on his X account and wrote, “Senate Democrats are here to fight for you.”

In the video, Senate Democrats spoke directly to camera, pledging to work with “whoever” would make life better, but standing up to President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans if they “do things to hurt you.”

Several Democratic senators, who are from nearby states or are up for re-election, were noticeably absent from the video. Sens. John Fetterman, Pa., Jeanne Shaheen, NH, Maggie Hassan, NH, Ruben Gallego, Ariz., Mark Kelly, Ariz., Jon Ossoff, Ga., Gary Peters, Mich., Chris Murphy, Connecticut, did not appear in the video.

Conservatives and others on social media derided the video as out of touch, with one user saying Democrats are still wondering how they lost the last election and that the video would help them win over voters.

A reporter from the British news outlet The Guardian appears to have reluctantly called the video “kind of creepy.”

“They’re fighting for you with the Power of Cringe,” quipped college professor and conservative commentator David P. Deavel. He added in passing, “Senator Booker himself looks like a slightly grumpy seventh grader who was told not to mess up a class video.”

“Please go away. You’re the worst,” Babylon Bee editor-in-chief Joel Berry wrote. ua separate posthe added, “Hello, look at these old lizard-faced stock traders.”

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, wrote, “So much respect for the voters.”

“NOW they will fight for the workers and their families!?!” – asked comedian Jimmy Dore. “So you ended up quashing rail union strikes and flooding the country with millions of desperate people to keep wages down? And all it took was for the American people to elect Trump and a Republican Congress? Who knew?!?”

Although the video has received some support, with one progressive suggesting that Democratic senators make more like it.
