Man Utd have lowered their asking price for Alejandro Garnach ahead of new talks with Chelsea
Manchester United have reportedly slashed their asking price for winger Alejandro Garnach as Napoli and Chelsea continue to compete for his signature.
Clubs have been alerted to Garnach’s potential availability this month amid United’s concerns about their ability to stay within the Premier League’s financial rules. Napoli have launched a bid for the Argentina international as they look to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Chelsea are considering a rival approach.
Reports had previously valued Garnach at around £60m – a figure that has been up until now proved too high for Napoli – but now it is claimed that United reduced their demands.
Gianluca Di Marzio The United States is now seeking a total package worth 65 million euros (54.9 million pounds), while The Telegraph set United’s new asking price somewhere closer to £50m.
Napoli want to complete the deal for no more than €55m (£46.4m), but United’s compromise has given the Serie A side hope that a deal will be struck somewhere in the middle of the two sides’ demands.
As regards Chelseathe Blues are expected to hold a fresh round of talks over Garnach, with their scouting checks on the winger also including reports on his attitude amid concerns about his fit in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Chelsea contacted representatives of United and Garnach, who were in attendance at Stamford Bridge for a 3-1 win over Wolvesand now they must decide whether to join Napoli in submitting an official offer.
