Lamine Yamal has confirmed that he plans to sign a new contract with Barcelona as soon as possible.
The teenage superstar has entered the final 18 months of his current deal, which he signed in October 2023, and was limited to three years by Spanish law due to his age.
However, when he signed that contract, the broad terms of another extension agreement were reached with agent Jorge Mendes, with Barcelona is believed to be planning a new four-year contract to keep Yamal at the club until 2030. However, with a new deal yet to be signed, some fans have begun to fear a potential departure – not least because Paris Saint-Germain’s attempt to sign him for €250 million in the summer.
Put those fears to bed without a doubt, Yamal said CNN: “I don’t know when [the contract will be signed]but I believe it will be soon.
“At the end of the day, Barca is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and be with them as long as possible.
“I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barca, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will.”
Mendes also gave his assurance of a new contractrecently insisting that his client will soon commit to the Camp Nou.
