Michael Vaughan, who was on the commentary panel, praised Shaw’s save from the boundary as “magnificent”. Adam Gilchrist he highlighted Shaw’s proactive thinking and ability to avoid touching the boundary rope while in the air. Michael Hussey noted how Shaw was able to return the ball without being overbalanced.

“It’s magnificent … that’s five runs in the tank before he’s even batted,” Michael Vaughan said.

“It was an unbelievable effort . . . unbelievable to be able to throw that ball back and not overdo it,” Michael Hussey said.

“Amazing effort. I thought it must have been Jordan Silk out there, but it wasn’t Lachie Shaw.”
