Kyle Walker hits back at claims of ‘unacceptable behaviour’ after allegations he failed to turn up for Brentford game
Kyle Walker has responded to claims he was a no-show for Manchester City’s game against Brentford on Tuesday.
Club captain Walker was left out of the City squad that blew a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw in west London.
The 34-year-old also played no part in the Citizens’ 8-0 win over Salford in the FA Cup last weekend, with manager Pep Guardiola revealing after the game that the England international wants to leave the club.
Guardiola said: “It’s not easy for me to say, but Kyle is not here because two days ago he asked to explore the possibility of playing abroad at the end of his career.
“He asked two years ago after the Treble, when Bayern wanted him, but the offer wasn’t good enough.”
The revelation fueled rumors that Walker has opted out of City’s Premier League side in west London as he continues to push for a move away.
On the account of a City fan, he wrote ‘City Chief’ X: “Kyle Walker’s behavior is completely unacceptable. As the captain of the club, not coming to the games is a shame.
“If you want to leave, do it respectfully – this is not the way. Your lack of commitment has been a major factor in this disappointing campaign.”
Walker took to social media to directly deny the claim, replying to the post: “No show? “I can’t be at Brentford and train at the same time. You may need to check your sources.”
You didn’t show up?

Walker looks almost certain to leave the club in January after a successful eight years in which he won six Premier League titles.
Reports suggest the right-back is keen to secure a move to an elite club that could help extend his career in England, ruling out a move to Saudi Arabia following reported interest.
He has 93 caps for England and seems desperate to reach 100 caps, becoming only the second black player to do so after Ashley Cole.
The former Tottenham defender has started nine times in the Premier League for Man City this season, and last appeared against Manchester United on December 15.
Walker has been a regular during Euro 2024 and has started England’s last three games, but faces increased competition at right-back from Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has impressed for his country of late.
The 2022 treble winner looks set to impress new Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel with a fresh start elsewhere.
