The post follows Middleton’s visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital on Tuesday, the facility where she received treatment following her diagnosis.

“I wanted to take the opportunity to thank The Royal Marsden for taking such good care of me over the last year,” she wrote in her post, paying tribute to the “exceptional” care she received during her diagnosis, saying “I couldn’t have asked for more. “

She announced that she will now take on the role of joint patron of The Royal Marsden and hopes to “save many more lives” by “supporting ground-breaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting the wellbeing of patients and families”.

During her visit to the hospital, Middleton spoke to cancer patient Katherine Field, who was receiving chemotherapy, and expressed her sympathy for the cancer treatment experience.

“It’s really hard. It’s such a shock,” she said of her diagnosis, which she revealed to the world in early 2024. “Everyone told me, please keep a positive mindset, it makes a big difference.”

She added, “When I went in, everyone said make sure you put on all your warm (clothes),” since chemotherapy infusion rooms can often be cold.

Last March, Middleton announced that she had been diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer and would undergo chemotherapy. Otherwise, she kept the details of her cancer and treatment a secret.

In September, she shared that she has completed chemotherapy and was focused on staying “cancer free,” but admitted it had been a challenging year for her family.

“Life as you know it can change in an instant and we had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown road,” she said in video September shared on social networks. “This time above all else has reminded William and I to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that many of us often take for granted.
