John Cena’s father comments on his imminent retirement from WWE (Exclusive)

John Cena kicked off his post-retirement WWE tour on RAW’s Netflix premiere. The leader of Cenacija has announced that he plans to win his 17th world title by competing at the upcoming Royal Rumble PLE 2025.

Speaking of the recent release What were they thinking? on Backstage Pass, John Cena Sr. was asked to share his thoughts on his son’s impending retirement from WWE.

“I can’t speak for John. I’ve never discussed why or how. But I mean, you all know, being in the business, you know when you’ve had enough. And I guess his theory is, ‘If I can’t go the way I’m going and acting the way I’ve been going, then maybe it’s time for me to retire.'”

He continued:

“And, you know, when you look at that streak in the 2000s that he had with all those games, I guess you have to sit back and really think about it a little bit. I certainly don’t want to see him go. But I think there’s a time in everybody’s life when you know when time to go.” [From 01:37 onwards]

John Cena will likely return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. Whether the former remains to be seen two-time Royal Rumble winner it may reach three on February 1, 2025.
