Jasprit Bumrah’s Test captain in danger as pacer to consult personal doctor for back problem
India National cricketer, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was undergoing extensive scans after sustaining an injury during the final match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The fast bowler suffered a back spasm during the first innings of the Sydney Test and then did not come out to bowl.
There is no clarity on the extent of the injury that Jasprit Bumrah has been dealing with and many are wondering if the master pacer will play in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy or not. However, according to reports from Sportski Tak, it is learned that the exact nature of his injury will be revealed soon.
Jasprit Bumrah will consult his personal doctor who operated on him in New Zealand
According to Sports Tak reports, Jasprit Bumrah, along with the BCCI medical team, will consult with his personal doctor who operated on him in New Zealand. After the examination, the doctors will have the final decision on what kind of treatment the pacer needs in addition to the rehabilitation process.
A source close to the development said that Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed the same, saying that the fast bowler will get rest if needed.

He emphasized that the call would be received after she found out what his injury was. he said:
“What he has to do and what suggestions he has to take is all between the BCCI doctor and his doctor who operated on him in New Zealand, you will know in a few days the exact nature of the injury and the status….it all depends on him personally…
“He is in contact with the doctors and will be further evaluated to know the exact injury and the level, if he needs to rest he will be given it, no doubt about it, but before that we need to know his exact injury, not just the doctors decide will take the next step accordingly, from now on we can only hope and wish that he recovers soon.”
Rishabh Pant’s name is also being considered for the Test captaincy as Jasprit Bumrah struggles with his fitness
Amidst matters related to his fitness, RevSportz announced that there will be discussions about not handing over the captaincy to Jasprit Bumrah Test due to his workload. Consideration will be given to whether, if the fast bowler is given the lead, he will be able to play all the matches.
Reports added that Rishabh PantHis name is also being considered for the Test captaincy as he does well in the format. Immediately, there will be no call regarding the same and the discussions about it will be conducted in England series.
As for Bumrah, it is learned that the fast bowler will be rested for the three-match ODI series against England. This is because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants the fast bowler to be ready for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
