Earlier, after winning the toss, Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques revealed why he decided to bowl first in the 2024-25 Big Bash League qualifiers. against Hobart. The Australian all-rounder said on the toss, as quoted by Cricbuzz, “The wicket will remain pretty good. There will be someone who comes and plays the best cricket tonight. That’s becoming a trend in T20 cricket—deciding to bowl—so you know what you’re chasing.”
Moises Henriques further explained, “When you throw the ball first, it takes longer to lose the game. If you lose four quick wickets on a wicket you shouldn’t have batted, it’s pretty easy to lose the match from that point. That may be a bit of a conservative way of thinking, but it seems to be working well.”
