Hummel launched Greenland’s new home kit which caused such a stir that the striking red jersey, heavily influenced by the island nation’s heritage, quickly sold out.
Another series is in production, but now comes a stunning shirt born from the landscape and harsh environment it wants to represent.
The ice blue shirt is inspired by the Greenland ice sheet, which covers 80% of the land mass and is the second largest ice mass in the world – after that of Antarctica.
The enduring power of ice is the main theme of the launch, linked to the indomitable strength of the Greenlandic national spirit.
“It is part of who we are as people: steadfast, resilient and with hearts deeply rooted in our country and cultural heritage,” said Kenneth Kleist, president of the Greenland Football Association (KAK).
“The new away jersey showcases that strength and unity, serving as a reminder of the pride we carry both as individuals and as a team. Whether it’s the roar of the stadium crowd or the silence of the glacier, our pride remains unbreakable.”
Greenland itself, its heritage and values, played a large role in what Hummel produced for the home kit, and attention to detail has also gone into creating an outstanding away kit. The design is influenced by the intricate natural patterns formed by ice, with textured graphics that celebrate the power of ice and sleeve details that pay homage to traditional Greenlandic clothing.
“The Ice Sheet stands as a reminder of the strength and patience required to endure in one of the harshest environments in the world,” explained Morten Lund, Marketing Director at Hummel.
“Our goal was to capture that story in a design that resonates with both the team and the people of Greenland. It’s a symbol of unity – with each other and with the land that shapes them, and we hope the players will wear it with pride.”
