GAKPO scores twice as much as red cruises with a routine win
Liverpool maintained their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a straight-sets win over Ipswich this afternoon.
The visitors have now conceded 10 goals in two games following their 6-0 thrashing of Manchester City last week and, in truth, were hopelessly outplayed at Anfield as Arne Slott’s men cruised to victory without getting out of the second tier.
Cody Gakpo continued his good season with braces, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah were also on target.
Jacob Greaves pulled one back but the 18th-placed Tractor boys remain deep in relegation trouble.

Szoboszlai puts the red colors in front
Ipswich held onto their opener until Szoboszlai broke the deadlock with the first serious chance for either side after 11 minutes.
The Hungarian captain was played by Ibrahim Konata, he stepped up to a challenge and shot in Low shot to the bottom right corner.
It was too simple from an Ipswich perspective and Szoboszlai found too much space in which to work.
Kieran McKenna made five changes after the defeat at City, but one of the unfit, Wes Burns, lasted just 26 minutes before going down with what looked to be a serious injury.
The Wales international left on a stretcher and Ipswich’s afternoon took another turn when Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead nine minutes later.
Gakpo was the creator with a cross from the left and Salah stayed, controlling the ball immediately before slotting past Christian Walton from a tight angle for his 100th Premier League goal at Anfield.
It was 3-0 before half-time and Ipswich were offering no resistance.
Ryan Gravenberch hit a dangerous ball from the right for Szoboszlai to convert. Walton made a good save, but Gakpo was on hand to connect on the rebound.
All too easy for Liverpool
The second half was a stroll with the home side playing as well as they did at the break.
The intensity dropped, although Liverpool remained on top.
The fourth goal arrived after 66 minutes, and Gakpo was on target again. Trent Alexander-Arnold curled in a trademark twist and the Dutchman stepped in front of his marker to nod past Walton.

Alexander-Arnold almost got into the act but his effort from 25 yards flashed wide of the upright with Walton beaten, before he went close to firing a shot wide from the right four minutes later.
Alisson was finally called into action after 84 minutes with a smart stop to deny George Hirst, but the Brazil International was beaten in the final minute, debutant Greaves nodding Julio Encisco’s corner into the net.
