Fulham are now weighing up a bid to sign the “dominant” gem they are infatuated with

They are still waiting for their first signing in 2025. Fulham they are now reportedly considering a first bid to sign the 20-year-old defender who has impressed them this season.

Fulham transfer news

Much of the Cottagers’ transfer window has been focused on the future of Andreas Pereira amid ties to Brazilian club Fluminense. It seemed like the attacking midfielder was getting closer and closer to leaving before Marko Silva poured cold water on the rumours.

The Fulham coach told the press: “Totally false. I don’t normally talk about situations like this, but I think it’s time to be clear: it’s completely false that there was an increased offer or something like that.

“I spoke to the board yesterday – and absolutely zero. We’re a bit surprised that this news came out of nowhere. What we can control is ourselves and our work and what we can do.”

Marco Silva now personally wants Fulham to sign the “strong” £42million midfielder

He is proven in the Premier League…

With that said and the midfielder seemingly set to stay put, those at Craven Cottage have the opportunity to turn their attention to potential arrivals. According to African Foot reported by Sport Witness, Fulham are now considering a bid to sign Ousmane Diao from Midtjylland who was enchanted by the games of the young defender.

Potentially valued at more than €4m (£3m) by the Danish club, Fulham will have to spend if they are to welcome their first signing in the January transfer window. Still only 20 years old, that £3m+ valuation could quickly turn into a bargain for years to come.

With Issa Diop the only centre-back to be on Silva’s bench in the 3-2 defeat against West Ham United, welcoming further depth in that role would certainly not be a bad idea, especially if Fulham are eyeing shock European qualification this season.

“Dominant” Diao is one to watch

Looking at Fulham’s defensive options, what they lack is a young prospect who would eventually play an important role. As things stand, the more established options in Calvin Bassey, Joachim Andersen and Diop take center stage, but there is certainly room for a younger player to come in and make his mark. Silva a welcome boost within his backline.

Dubbed a “complete and dominant” centre-back Football talent scout Jacek KuligDiao is certainly one to watch for the rest of the season and beyond, especially if Fulham make their move.

As established Premier League side these days, Fulham are better placed than they have been for a long time to swoop in and welcome impressive young talent of Dia’s calibre. And with that in mind, they should be an interesting side to watch in the coming weeks.
