French stocks rise at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.70% Investing.com

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close of the Paris Stock Exchange, the index rose by 0.70% to hit a new 6-month high, while the index rose by 0.63%.

The best performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA: ), which rose 2.27% or 0.67 points to trade at 29.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Saffron SA ( EPA: ) added 2.06% or 4.80 points to end at 237.90 and ArcelorMittal SA ( AS: ) was up 2.00% or 0.45 points to 22.97 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA: ), which fell 2.15% or 1.07 points to 48.59 at the close. Vivendi SA (EPA: ) declined 1.26% or 0.03 points to end at 2.43 and Teleperformance SE (EPA: ) declined 1.06% or 0.92 points to 85.80.

The best results at SBF 120 were Wave (EPA:) which rose 5.92% to 2.29, Nexity (EPA: ) which rose 2.61% to 12.17 and Societe Generale SA (EPA: ) which gained 2.27% to close at 29.99.

They turned out to be the worst Eramet SA (EPA: ) which fell 4.23% to 54.40 in late trade, X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA: ) which lost 3.54% to 4.98 and Viridien SA (EPA: ) which fell 3.01% to 58.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered rising stocks on the Paris Stock Exchange by 254 to 228, with 92 ending unchanged.

Shares of Societe Generale SA (EPA: ) rose to 52-week highs; rose 2.27% or 0.67 to 29.99. Shares of Safran SA (EPA:) rose to all-time highs; gaining 2.06% or 4.80 to 237.90. Shares of Societe Generale SA (EPA: ) rose to 52-week highs; rose 2.27% or 0.67 to 29.99.

The index , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% at 18.96, a new 52-week high.

Gold futures for February delivery fell 0.40%, or 11.09, to $2,759.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude for March delivery fell 0.94%, or 0.71, to $74.73 a barrel, while the March Brent crude contract fell 0.85%, or 0.67, to $78. 33 dollars per barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% at 1.04, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.15% at 0.84.

US dollar index futures fell 0.04% to 107.92.
