French police to face trial over ‘suffocation’ of delivery driver’s death during arrest

Three police officers will face trial in Paris in 2020 for the death of Cédric Chouviat, who died in hospital after losing consciousness during an arrest. The 42-year-old was knocked to the ground during the arrest and repeatedly told police he was “choking”. The case has caused comparisons with the death of George Floyd in the US.
