India chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma dropped fiery pacer Mohammed Siraj from the ODI squad as the BCCI announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which starts on February 19, 2025.
Sanju Samson and Mohammed Siraj are the two big names missing from the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Siraj, who is a regular in India’s ODI scheme of things, is not even included as a back-up option for the prestigious tournament.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said in a press conference, “Mohammad Siraj is not efficient and his efficiency drops when the ball gets old.” After Siraj’s fall, fans became furious with BCCI, Ajit Agarkar and Rohit, saying they would regret dropping the pacer.

After the announcement, Indian fans were saying that BCCI and Ajit Agarkar would cry for such a selfish mistake. Many fans blame Mumbai’s influence for Siraj’s defection, while some call it KKR’s influence, as Harshit Rana was preferred over the experienced pacer for Champions Trophy 2025 as a backup pacer.
