Clement has to give up 13 passes for the Rangers
Glasgow Rangers suffered a broken heart in European league on Thursday evening, with Philippe ClementThe team conceded a late goal from Bruno Fernandes as Manchester United secured a 2-1 victory.
The two sides were targeting three points to boost their chances of finishing in the top eight, securing a place in the last 16.
Man United scored first thanks to a roaring Jack Butland, and it looked like the Old Trafford side were cruising to victory.
However, with just two minutes of normal time remaining, Harry Maguire’s mistake was sniffed out by Cyriel Dessers. Often guilty of sloppiness, the striker took one touch, before unleashing a devastating shot into the corner of United’s goal.
However, there was more drama later on as Fernandes got on the end of a cross to score what turned out to be the winner.
There were a few decent games from the visitors, while a few young men managed to get some playing time.
Rangers’ biggest underperformance against Man United
Although it was Butland who scored the unfortunate own goal against his former employers, he was not the main culprit at Old Trafford, far from it.
One of them was full-back Jefta who, as the clock ticked down, switched off at the back post and allowed that man Fernandes to come in relatively unmarked and find the goal.
It was never a game full of opportunities for the Gers, but Clement will no doubt be disappointed by some of the forwards, most notably Nedim Bajrami.
The Albanian looked like an interesting signing when he joined the Ibrox side last summer. He often played out of position on the left wing during his first few months due to injury problems with other members of the squad.
In all competitions, Bajrami had scored four goals and registered four assists, but considering how much the Gers paid for him, that number should be higher.
Against United, Bajrami was used as an attacking midfielder, operating just behind Hamza Igamane and if there was ever a game to prove to the fans that he belonged in the team, this was it.
Unfortunately, he was arguably one of the worst players on the team Thursday night. Former Sassuolo player completed only 13 overs during his time on the pitch, while taking just 25 touches – two less than Butland – proving just how little he was involved.

The midfielder also gave the ball away seven times, a miserable performance. Writer Andy McKellar he even claimed that Bajrami “doesn’t offer enough on the ball”.
Who could replace Bajrami in Rangers
Given how poor he was against Man United, the Albanian could lose his place in the starting 11 for the clash against Dundee United on Sunday afternoon.
Ianis Hagi was not included in the squad for the Europa League, but he should replace Bajrami this weekend.
The 25-year-old has been poor for a few weeks now and with plenty of youngsters such as Bailey Rice, Zak Lovelace and Findlay Curtis knocking on the door, the Albanian international will need to improve, and quickly.
Despite the defeat, a positive display next week in the final European game should secure the club a place in the knockout play-offs.
