“Playoff football is the most meaningful football you’ll ever play in your life,” he said in a video posted on the Chiefs’ Instagram account. “I appreciate every play, man. I really do. When you’re in it, you’re always trying to go for greatness.
“Being bigger than what you are. You know, obviously there’s a historic streak and something that we can accomplish that no other team has been able to do. You know, that drives you.”
Kelce admitted on the podcast that he will “re-evaluate” some things in the offseason.
“I love everything I do in this building, but at the end of the day, I don’t have as much success on the court as I do individually,” Kelce told Smith. “… I’ll reassess it like I always do, and I’ll probably tell myself how much I love this thing, and I’ll be back next year.
“I still love coming into the building every day, does it get tough, yes, but I don’t do it for the stats. I do it for the greatness, the legacy that we’ve created here in Kansas City,” he added, “…I can’t imagine what it would be like was a feeling if I could just say I’m satisfied because I’m still hungry to go and get something right now.”
During the season, Kelce faced various criticisms, with accusations that he was washed up or spending too much time with his girlfriend Taylor Swift. He still managed to have 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.
Even at the age of 35, Kelce has been healthy all season and only missed Week 18 as the Chiefs decided to rest their rookies, after they had already completed the bye week. With a whiff of retirement entering the air as the season winds down, Kelce was asked if Swift is considering calling it a career.
