Chelsea received a response this month in their bid to sign the £17million “creative” winger

They still want to start their January jobs, Chelsea have reportedly received their first response in a bid to sign an attacking addition worth just £17m this month.

First of all, the Blues have to clean up the remaining dry wood Enzo Marescafrom the side. The likes of Ben Chilwell and Tosin Adarabio have already been linked with the exit door in recent weeks, and there’s no denying that the former in particular needs an exit in January.

The left back supposedly has interested Evertonin a move that would allow him to stay put Premier League and join David Moyes at the start of his latest reign at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, on the signing front, the Blues have been linked with the likes of Ousmane Diomande. Reports have even gone so far as to suggest so Chelsea is among the favourites to secure the Sporting CP defender’s signature in a big-money deal this month.

The centre-back is not the only one who could arrive before the end of the month, with attacking reinforcements also threatening to steal the headlines in recent weeks.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea have seen off their initial bid for Yeremay Hernandez worth 8.5 million pounds rejected by Deportivo La Coruna.

The Blues are not exactly close to the Segunda Division side’s valuation given that they are only willing to part ways with Hernandez if the clubs trigger his €20m (£17m) release clause this month.

With Aston Villa also keeping an eye on things, the west London club must step things up if they are to land the winger before the end of the window. A wanted man and a player on the rise, Hernandez could make his biggest move yet if the Blues increase their offer.

“Creative” Hernandez is a rising star

Whether via the Premier League or elsewhere, Hernandez looks set to make the step up to the top flight after an impressive campaign in Spain’s second division for Deportivo, scoring eight goals and assisting a further three in just 18 games so far this season.

I got a lot of praise as a result, analyst Ben Mattinson described Hernandez as a “compact creative wing” earlier this week, before calling his vision “excellent” in a post full of positives.

As the window opens, Chelsea must now decide whether to meet Hernandez’s release clause or simply allow the winger to look for a move elsewhere.

The question would certainly be asked of Maresca where Hernandez would fit into his Chelsea. So many players have arrived before being forced to watch from the bench, and Hernandez has too much potential to suffer a similar fate.
