Champions League table after the 7th round
Reformatted first phase of the 2024/25 Champions League. is coming to an end after the seventh round of matches took place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
For Liverpool and Barcelonathat’s job done and safe passage to the knockout round, which will eventually see the competition whittled down to 16 teams.
Arne Slot’s Reds have won a perfect seven from seven matches – Young Boys and Slovan Bratislava are the unlucky teams at the other end of the 32-team table with the exact opposite record – while Barcelona have registered an impressive six wins in their seven games, including a barnstorming Victory 5-4 away from Benfica.
For Arsenalthings look good after them Dinamo Zagreb won 3-0and are assured of a place in the top eight provided they do not endure a disastrous last-gasp against lowly Girona. They will also need a host of results to go against them to knock them out of the competition.
Real Madridthe situation noticeably improved in the seventh round, scored five goals against weak RB Salzburgand they could break into the top eight if things go to plan in the final round of matches.
For Manchester Cityhowever, things look desperate. Pep Guardiola’s men were 2-0 up and cruising at Paris Saint-Germain but again found a way to pull themselves out of defeat from the jaws of victory.
The Premier League champion experienced a monumental collapse give up to lose 4-2and are now an unimaginable 25th in the table, facing complete elimination from the competition unless they beat Club Brugge in the eighth round – which is no foregone conclusion given how they are playing.
It was also a good week for Between, Milan and Atletico Madridwho made it into the top eight and could skip the play-off round where teams finishing between 9th and 24th will play each other in a doubleheader for a place in the last 16.
