Caitlyn Jenner predicts ‘change’ in California after LA fires shine a ‘bright light’ on state’s ‘weaknesses’
Caitlyn Jenner, a longtime California resident and Fox News contributor, predicts there will be a “change” in thinking across the state after the way leaders have handled the wildfires still affecting parts of Los Angeles County.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WATER FALLS IN CALIFORNIA DURING FIRE
Jenner, who said she has lived in California since 1973, recalled the first time she saw the state’s “Welcome to California, The Golden State” sign on Highway 82.
“Man, have I seen this state go down over the years. We’re not gold, we’re not silver, we’re not bronze. We’re not even making the finals anymore,” Jenner told “The Story,” arguing that the state’s decline is due to the politicians who run it. .
A former Republican 2021 recall candidate argued that details emerging from how officials missed prepare for forest fires will shine a “bright light” on California’s “weaknesses”.
“Light is good because it’s a disinfectant. I mean, we have so many problems here, mostly with politicians,” Jenner said, likening politicians’ responses to problems like a game of “whack a mole.”
“You know that game when you play, when you have a mole and a board in front of you and your head pops out and you have a hammer and you hit it? And then another one comes up here, and you hit it down,” she described.

“That’s what they do. As soon as there’s a problem, then they try to do what they can to fix it. Instead of being on the offensive a year before the fire,” Jenner further explained her analogy.
Jenner criticized Governor Gavin Newsom’s response wildfires, noting that her property has been hit by several fires over the years and that they happen “all the time.”
“This is a devastating thing. And they’re not on the attack,” Jenner said, acknowledging that high winds contributed to the level of destruction from the flames.
In addition to unusually windy conditions, California faces a water infrastructure problem, which Jenner pointed out.
“We certainly had the California aqueduct in the 60s. The biggest project in history [for] waters in California. Since then, we have been led by liberal democrats, and we get less and less. And that’s just a shame because there’s a lot of things you can do and they just have their priorities in the wrong place,” she said.
California suffers from an outdated system of water reserves which was not able to store all the water from the record rainfall last year. Without tanks to provide adequate storage, much of the rainwater had to be dumped into the ocean.
Jenner described how she believes California has and will continue to be increasingly Republican following the mismanagement of the LA wildfires and the election victory of President-elect Donald Trump.
“What [Trump] done to this state, if you looked at the last few elections, the amount of blue that was on our state, it was half the state. Now it’s about a third,” Jenner said, explaining that most of California’s blue zones are in the major metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

“I hope that people in California can really change their thinking. And I think that’s what’s happening [with] this fire will change their thinking. Things like this have to happen,” Jenner said, explaining that California as a whole is under Democratic control.
“They control the money. They control the votes. They control the unions. And to me the whole country is like a big fraud,” she said.
