In terms of departures, three members of the squad have been moved out on loan, one of which is midfielder Han-Noah Massengo who has joined Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre.
Speaking to the media about bringing in a midfield replacement following the departure of Massengo, Parker has teased a potential addition amid links with Jonja Shelvey.
“Yeah, we’re a little short at the moment and that’s probably an area we’ll see if there’s anything [in the transfer window]. Obviously we have Aaron Ramsey [to come back from injury]but it’s still a bit far.
“There’s a player there that I’m looking at and I’ve been looking at for a while before I came here and I know exactly what level of player he is. But he’s obviously injured off the field at the moment. But you’re right, there’s a little area there where we’re a little lighter and maybe we’ll look at that.”
There are other targets for Burnley, including the Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelson and Plymouth Argyle forward Morgan Whittaker.
Those at Turf Moor wanted Whittaker in the summer and got it two offers for the player, who ended up staying at Home Park.
Burnley are making a bid for “hero” Plymouth Whittaker
Now, according to journalist Alex Crook, Burnley have made another bid to sign Whittaker from Plymouth. However, the Clarets are not the only ones. Championship rivals Hull City are doing the same. However, Argyle rejected both of their FA Cup bids “hero” after his winner at Brentford on Saturday.
The 24-year-old did not reach the same heights as last season Contribution of 27 goals campaign in the second division, he scored just three times and provided one assist under Wayne Rooney, who has since been sacked at Home Park.
A left-footed striker who plays on the right, Whittaker has received many plaudits for his performances in the South West, including from former Plymouth director of football Neil Dewsnipwho saluted Whittaker after he was named to the Championship Team of the Year last season.
“Well done Morgan Whittaker. He’s excited us here all season. He’s scored some incredible goals and to be picked in that squad with the quality coming out of this league is a huge achievement.
“He should be really proud of himself. I hope the fans enjoy watching him play. I hope he continues to score his goals in the next three games. It would be nice if he could do that. He has contributed a lot this season.”
Burnley appear determined to sign Whittaker at some point, however, this month could be tricky as Argyle struggle with relegation.
