Billionaire Bill Gates describes the details of the dinner that ‘impressed’ him with President-elect Trump
Billionaire Bill Gates recently offered a rare glimpse into his private conversation with President-elect Donald Trump and the nearly three-hour dinner that left him “impressed.” Gates, who has endorsed Trump’s 2024 running mate Harris, appeared to leave the dinner feeling optimistic about the president-elect.
“I had the opportunity, about two weeks ago, to go to a long and actually quite intriguing dinner with him,” Gates told the Wall Street Journal.
In his interview, Gates detailed the “wide-ranging” dinner conversation, noting that he discussed public health, a major focus of Gates’ philanthropic efforts, with Trump.
“I felt like he was full of energy and looking forward to helping drive innovation,” Gates told the WSJ. “I was honestly impressed with how well he showed great interest in the issues I raised.”

Gates dinner with Trump is coming in more and more billionaires and technology leaders flock to meet the president-elect ahead of his historic return to the White House. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos dined with Trump at Mar-a-Lago and pledged $1 million to the president-elect’s inaugural fund. Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms also contributed $1 million to the fund.
Citing people familiar with the discussion, the WSJ reported that the pay promise came before Zuckerberg met Trump for dinner at Mar-a-Lago in November following the Republican presidential victory.

At the dinner, Zuckerberg also demonstrated the company’s latest invention – Ray Ban smart glasses – and presented them to Trump.
Bezos, who also traveled to Trump’s Florida estate, said he left the dinner feeling “very optimistic” about the new administration. He also dismissed concerns about Trump’s relationship with Elon Musk.
“Elon has been very clear that he is doing this for the public interest, not for his own personal gain. And I take him for granted,” Bezos told Reuters, referring to the SpaceX chief executive.

Trump’s relationship with billionaires and tech moguls has changed greatly since 2020, when he was banned from several social media platforms. Back in October, Gates said privately that he had gave about 50 million dollars to Vice President Harris who supports the non-profit organization.

In addition, Zuckerberg announced the end of Meta’s controversial fact-checking policy in an effort to restore “freedom of expression on Facebook and Instagram.” Zuckerberg admitted that the checks, which began after Trump’s 2016 victory, “destroyed more trust than they created.” He also said the policies had led to “too much censorship”, despite the company making a “good faith” attempt to “address concerns” about misinformation.
