BCCI’s brutal 10-point dictate shocks Team India, Kohli-Rohit targeted, IPL ban for violators
The recent failure of the Indian cricket team has forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to tighten the reins on the players.
After India’s home Test at the hands of New Zealand and losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024-25. of Australia, the BCCI has introduced comprehensive 10 guidelines for national players to improve overall performance and team unity, with violators most likely to face an IPL ban.
The Indian Cricket Board has announced strict travel, spouse, baggage and personal staff rules for Indian cricket team players. Players must strictly adhere to the new rules; otherwise, violations may lead to disciplinary action against them. All exceptions will have to be approved in advance by the President of the Selection Committee and the head coach.
BCCI is introducing strict guidelines to revive Indian cricket after recent setbacks
If Indian players fail to follow any of the new guidelines, they could face suspension from BCCI tournaments, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), and deductions from their seed or match fees. This step has been taken to ensure accountability and importance of prioritizing Indian cricket.

The BCCI document reads: “All players are expected to strictly adhere to the above guidelines. All exceptions or deviations must be approved in advance by the president of the Selection Committee and the head coach. Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action as the BCCI deems fit.”
It further stated: “Furthermore, BCCI reserves the right to take disciplinary action against the player, which may include (i) sanctioning the player concerned for participation in all BCCI-run tournaments, including the Indian Premier League, and (ii) deduction from the long-term /match fees as per BCCI player contract. This measure ensures accountability and highlights the importance of adhering to established policies and prioritizing Indian cricket.”
BCCI’s latest policy also mandates that all players participate in domestic cricket to ensure that players remain connected to the domestic cricket ecosystem, encouraging talent development, maintaining match fitness and strengthening the overall domestic structure.
The new rules for the Indian cricket team emphasize team unity
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket board has also taken some strict measures to promote discipline and team unity among the players during matches and training sessions. Under the new policy, all players must travel with the team, discouraging separate travel arrangements with families to maintain ‘discipline’ and ‘team cohesion’.
However, if someone wants to relax this rule, he must first get the consent of the head coach and the president of the selection committee. Now, Indian players will not be allowed to take personal staff, such as managers, cooks, assistants and security personnel, during tours or series unless specifically approved by the board of directors.

The management took this step to streamline operations and reduce logistical complications. Now players will have to be with the Indian cricket team until the official end of the series or tour, even if the matches end earlier than the scheduled time, to promote team bonding and avoid disruption of the overall team dynamic.
These new policies are aimed at maintaining “the highest standards of professionalism and discipline within Team India. By fostering unity and ensuring operational efficiency, we can create an environment where players thrive and perform to their full potential.”
