Pakistan opener Sajid Khan grabbed the headlines not only for his outstanding bowling performance but also for making his teammates dance to his tune after finishing first at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Sunday, January 19.

Sajid Khan was the mastermind behind Pakistan’s national cricket team’s convincing 127-run win over West Indies in the first Test in Multan, where the spinner claimed an impressive nine wickets. With this convincing win, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Well, the seasoned spinner, who is known for his trademark “five-leg celebration”, will always remember this Multan Test match against the West Indies national cricket team as fulfilling his dream in style at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The off-spinner had earlier expressed his desire for his teammates Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to join him in the trademark celebration if he manages to claim five wickets during West Indies’ chase in Multan.

Sajid lived up to his promise, taking a crucial five-wicket lead to help the hosts successfully defend the 251-run target in the opening two-match Test series. A stellar performance from the second bowler shattered the West Indies batting line-up as the tourists could manage just 123 runs as the hosts secured a one-sided win in the Multan Test on Sunday.

Pakistan Cricket shared the video on its official X handle, where Sajid Khan can be seen doing his famous celebration while being joined by the captain, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Rizwan and Babar were seen replicating Sajid’s high-five celebration as the trio shared some touching moments in Multan that went viral on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Sajid Khan was named man of the match for his impressive nine wickets in both innings in the first Test against the West Indies. He also admitted that it was a spin-friendly pitch, which provided enough spin and bounce, and the spinners used it effectively at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Sajid said, “The wicket had a lot of spin and bounce. The spin bowling coach spoke to me and in the second innings I bowled a bit slower and didn’t concede too many runs as I conceded runs later in the spell in the first innings.

Nauman Ali talks to me a lot because he is very experienced. We didn’t want to give up any runs in the second inning, and that was great. I wanted to hit well. But I opted for an inside-out shot and it didn’t land. Obviously, the shot was not on this field (laughs).”

Notably, Sajid crossed the milestone of 50 Test wickets for Pakistan in just his 11th match. He reached the milestone at an average of 27.73 and so far has three four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls in the longest format of the game.

In six domestic Tests, Sajid took 34 wickets at an average of 31.03, including three five-wicket hauls, while he took 21 wickets at an outstanding average of 22.71 in five away Tests. In addition, Sajid has an impressive record in first-class cricket, with 294 wickets.
