At least 10 dead after a truck collided with a crowd in New Orleans, according to Reuters city agencies

(Reuters) – At least 10 people were killed and 30 injured when a truck plowed into a large crowd of people on Bourbon Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter early on Wednesday, a city government agency said.

It said more information was not immediately available.

Earlier, CBS News, citing witnesses, reported that the truck drove into the crowd at high speed, then the driver got out and started firing a weapon, and the police returned fire.

“Initial reports indicate that a car may have hit a group of people. There are no known injuries, but there are reports of fatalities,” a New Orleans police spokesman told CBS News.

The police department did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
