Arsenal plan a move for “one of the best players in the PL”
We are only in the second week of the crazy season, but the rumors are in full swing, especially for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta side experiences something like a minor blip in the Premier League and seem destined to come out of League Cupso links to a whole host of attacking stars shouldn’t be all that surprising.
One of the most featured links were on Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunhaalthough there is talk of his signing a new agreement with Old Goldit seems unlikely that it will go anywhere.
However, there is another Premier League star the Gunners have been linked with recently, a star who has coincidentally received comparisons to Cunha this year.
Arsenal are chasing the top star of the Premier League
According to a recent report from Sky Sports journalist from Germany Florian PlettenbergArsenal are interested in the Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
Unfortunately for any fans hoping he could join this month, Plettenberg revealed the Cameroon international has been shortlisted by the Gunners for potential summer signings.
The report did not mention a potential price, but according to other stories from earlier this month, the talented striker could be available for around £50m.
Getting over the line could be complicated and relatively expensive, but given Mbeum’s incredible abilities, it’s worth a shot, especially since he’s received comparisons to Cunha.
How Mbeumo compares to fellow Arsenal target Matheus Cunha
So before we look at a few reasons why Arsenal should sign Mbeuma this year, be it this month or in the summer, let’s examine this comparison to Cunha and where it came from.
It primarily derived from FBrefwhich compares players in similar positions in Europe’s top five leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League, then creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each, and, in this case, concludes that the Brazilian is the seventh most similar attacking midfielder or winger to a Cameroonian in recent 365 days.
The best way to see where this comparison came from is to look at the underlying metrics where the pair are close, including but not limited to expected goals plus assists, pass accuracy, progressive, live and key passes, shot and goal-creating actions and more , all 90.

However, aside from his similarities to Wolves’ prodigious talent, there are several other reasons why Arteta and Co should look to bring in the former Troyes ace this year.
The first is his incredible result, since in only 23 appearances in all competitions this season, he is a dynamic striker, whom the expert Dan Bardell recently dubbed “one of the best players in the Premier League,” he found in goal 13 times and four assists for good measure.
That means that, as things stand, the 25-year-old ace is averaging a goal every 1.35 games for the Bees.
Finally, in addition to bringing more goals to the team, the Avallon-born dynamo would also be the perfect player to cover Bukaya Saka on the right – to ensure he is not outplayed again – and could also rival Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for the role of number nine, ensuring that they must be constantly alert.
Ultimately, while it wouldn’t come cheap, Arsenal should do everything they can to bring Mbeuma to the Emirates this year, as his goalscoring ability and positional versatility would make the team far stronger.
