Arsenal learn the devastating extent of Gabriel Jesus’ injury

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is understood to have suffered a torn ACL during the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United, which could force the Gunners to invest in the transfer market, according to a report.

Jesus had to be stretchered off in the first half for Arsenal tie in the third round on Sunday after the conflict with Bruno Fernandes. The Brazil striker appeared to have hit his knee earlier when he landed awkwardly and covered his face in pain as he was helped off the pitch.

Mikel Arteta he could not give any concrete information about the status of Jesus immediately after the competition, but warned that it was Fr “big concern” and “he didn’t look good.”

The Athletic they now claim that Jesus is “suspected” to have suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. Further tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis, but there is a firm belief that the Brazilian will be out for the rest of the season and beyond. If it’s a torn ACL, Jesus probably won’t be back for at least nine months.

This big shot, together with continuation of Bukayo Saka’s absencehe can force Arsenal to bring in immediate, short-term attacking reinforcements.

The Gunners have been linked with Premier League-proven talent in form Alexander Isak from Newcastle United and Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo. However, the striker is not expected to be on the move in January.

While The Athletic don’t name any targets, the report claims Arsenal would be willing to secure a foreign loan move to bolster Arteta’s depleted front line.

After going out on penalties against Manchester United, Arsenal’s season hangs in the balance. Six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand and trail Newcastle 2-0, go into next month’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at St James’ Park, Champions League may be the club’s last chance for silverware.
