Arsenal in talks to sign ‘monster’ worth £80m
Things may be much better than they were a few years ago, but this season has been disappointing for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta the side began the campaign with the express intention of finally winning Premier Leaguebut an endless string of injuries, suspensions and a general lack of form made that goal highly improbable.
There have been a number of underwhelming performances for the North Londoners this term, but perhaps the most noticeable dip in form has come from the club captain Martin Odegaardwho, since his return from injury, has looked like a shadow of his former self.
The Norway international has failed to take control of games and impose himself in the way he has over the past two seasons, but given the swashbuckling nature of those in front of him, that may not be entirely his fault, and that could be the board’s view, as that recent reports have linked the club with a star striker who could potentially revive the 26-year-old’s fortunes.
Arsenal target Premier League star
According to a a recent report by journalist Ben JacobsArsenal have retained their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
The transfer expert revealed that the Brazilian star has yet to sign the new contract he verbally agreed with the old gold, and that the player’s representatives are currently in informal negotiations with the Gunners.
However, if the North Londoners want to sign the former Atlético Madrid star this month, they will have to pay more than the ratio, with Jacobs revealing that Wolves would demand at least £80m.
It looks like this could be a challenging and incredibly expensive transfer to get over the border, but given how well Cunha is playing and Arsenal’s need for attacking reinforcements, it’s a deal worth pursuing, especially as it could help Odegaard return to your best state.
Why Cunha would be perfect for Odegaard
So there are two main reasons why adding Cunha to this Arsenal squad would be brilliant for Odegaard, the first being simple: his performance.
The Brazilian dynamo has been in scintillating form for Wolves this season, racking up brilliant results ten goals and four assists in only 22 performances, a total of 1717 minutes.
That means the 25-year-old game-changer is currently averaging a goal every 1.57 games or every 122.64 minutes, which is really impressive stuff for a relegation-threatened side.
In contrast, the Gunners’ current top scorer, Kai Havertz, scored 13 goals and three assistsbut he did it in 29 games, totaling 2,412 minutes.
Therefore, while the German has more goals this season, he only averages one every 1.81 games or every 150.75 minutes, which is not good enough in a title-contending team.

Moreover, in games against Manchester United and Newcastle United this month, he was outrageously wasteful, missed two big opportunities in the former and one in the latterwhile his captain created two against the Red Devils.
Just imagine what those games would look like with the Wolves star in attack and, in turn, how many more assists the former Real Madrid gem could have under his belt.
Another reason the João Pessoa-born phenom could help the Gunners’ number eight return to his prime is as a replacement when he needs to leave the team due to fatigue or poor form.
That, while the intermediate most consider him primarily a striker, he is more than capable of playing in midfield and has even done so on 12 occasions this season.
This would allow Odegaard to step out of the limelight and recharge, which he simply cannot do at the moment.
Ultimately, Cunha could cost an arm and a leg this month, but his efficiency in the final third, combined with his positional versatility, make him an almost perfect addition to this Arsenal squad, and so the club must do what they can to bring him to north London.
