Arsenal confirmed the diagnosis of Gabriel Jesus’ injury


Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Jesus has suffered an ACL tear injury during Topnik’s defeat in the FA Cup against Manchester United.

The striker was stretchered off in the first half of the defeat and immediately caused concern in the Arsenal club as he was in significant pain, with manager Mikel Arteta describing the issue as “a big concern”.

Fear of an ACL injury it soon surfaced, and Arsenal have now confirmed the devastating diagnosis.

“As well as being substituted during our match against Manchester United on Sunday, Gabriel Jesus has undergone extensive assessments, scans and specialist examinations which have confirmed that he has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee,” the club said in a statement.

“Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin her recovery and rehabilitation program.

“We will continue to keep everyone updated on Gabby’s recovery and everyone at the club is fully focused on supporting Gabby to ensure she is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

Arsenal they haven’t set a timeline for Jesus’ return, but such injuries typically require around nine months of rehabilitation, meaning he won’t be back in action until late 2025.

Jesus’ injury could force Arsenal into the January transfer market, but will also be a major blow to reported plans to sell the Brazilian in the summer. Jesus has a contract with the club until 2027.
