Arsenal are targeting a £100m loan move for the future ‘superstar’
This season was tough Arsenal and their fans.
Mikel Arteta the team endured questionable decisions, a brutal fixture list and a seemingly never-ending list of first-team injuries, yet they remained second on Premier League.
Moreover, while Liverpool must now be considered convincing favourites for the league, there is still a chance, albeit an incredibly slim one, that the Gunners could chase them down over the next 16 games.
However, in order to achieve that, the board will need to sign off on some attacking reinforcements this month, so it is fortunate that recent reports have linked the club with the young striker who has been winning comparisons to the sublime Harry Kane just a few years ago.
Arsenal are targeting a potential striker
According to a recent report from journalist and transfer expert Ben JacobsArsenal are “assessing striker options for January.”

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
One player “of interest” to the Gunners is Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Evan Ferguson, but only if the south coast club approve his departure.
If they want to make him available, the north Londoners would have to sign him on a permanent deal or send Neto back to Bournemouth, as Premier League clubs can only have two players on loan from other teams in the league at a time and Raheem Sterling’s loan from Chelsea does not includes a termination clause.
All in all, the signing of Ferguson – which is estimated to be as high as £100m – may not be what fans are hoping for in this window, but the youngster has shown he can score in the top flight and was drawing comparisons with Kane just a few years ago.
How Ferguson compares to Kane
Okay, before we look at some of the other reasons why Arsenal might want to sign Ferguson this month, let’s examine those Kane comparisons and where they come from.
Well, one of the more notable claims about the Irishman’s resemblance to the England captain came from former Liverpool striker John Aldridge, who in March 2023. described the then 18-year-old striker as “the Irish version of Harry Kane”.
Later that year, former Spurs star Gary Lineker proposed to the club should have signed ace Galebova “as Kane’s replacement,” which is high praise from a poacher as revered as an English legend.
With all that said, the main thrust of these comparisons to the Bayern Munich striker is also the other reason the Gunners are likely considering him this month: his performance from a few years ago.
For example, in the 22/23 campaign, found forward of 30 thousand pounds per week the back of the network ten times and recorded three assists in just 25 appearances, a total of 1345 minutes, which means that he scored a goal every 1.92 games, or every 103.46 minutes.
More impressively than that, however, he equaled Wayne Rooney’s best of 11 league goals in a calendar year, although his average of one every 143 minutes was significantly better than the Englishman’s average of 175 minutes.
Now, the Seagulls star has struggled to match that level of production since then, but he has suffered two significant injuries last seasonand as he is still only 20 years old, he has plenty of time to develop into a goalscoring “superstar” former pro Danny Murphy claimed it was two years ago.

Ultimately, it may not be what transfer fans are hoping for at the moment, but Arsenal are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, and if Ferguson can show at least some of the form he was in before his injury setback, then Arteta will have a brilliant playing option that would could invite, and if they decide to sign him on a permanent contract, then he could become the Gunners’ own Kane.
