Indian cricket team manager Akash Deep spoke about playing under Rohit Sharma in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He said that he was very happy to play under the senior batsman as he made things very easy for him.
Indian national cricket team manager Akash Deep has been a key part of the Test team since the last few months. The pacer made his debut for the team in 2024 against the Rohit Sharma-led England cricket team and made an immediate impression with his impeccable lines and length.

Akash, after his impressive effort in the domestic Tests, has made the squad for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The fast bowler failed to play the first two matches of the series as Harshit Rana was preferred over him. However, he returned to the team for the third game.
Akash Deep was unlucky but gave his all for the team. The pacer played two games at the Gabba and Melbourne but managed to take five wickets at an unimpressive average of 54. He had a dip in his bowling, was winning enough time and the edges were not holding up well which made things difficult for him.
Rohit Bhai makes things so simple – Akash Deep
Akash Deep, who did not play the Sydney Test due to injury, was asked about the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma. He was full of praise for the batsman, saying he never felt like he had just started my international career. He emphasized that Rohit made things simple for him. In a conversation with Dainik Jagran, he explained:
“I got a chance to play under Rohit Bhai and I consider myself lucky. Rohit Bhai keeps things so simple that I never felt like I had just started my international career.
“I played in domestic cricket and IPL, and then I thought the international level would be much more challenging. But the way Rohit Bhai simplified everything for the players made it very easy. I believe he is the greatest captain.”

Akash Deep, in an interview with PTI, also praised Rohit Sharma, saying that the batsman always told him that he can take a wicket on every ball. He said the skipper always briefed him on his role. He added:
“Rohit bhaiyya had a lot of faith in me to take wickets anytime, ‘Woh bolte hai hai ki mujhko lagta hai tum har ball pe wicket le sakte ho. I will get a short answer that in case I don’t get wickets, I should do the job holding at one end, slow the game down and run to keep things under control.
“I tried to maintain discipline, bowl the ball in good areas and wait for the batsman to make a mistake…it doesn’t matter whether the ball is new, semi-new or old,” the pacer said.
