World record warning! Ayush Mhatre becomes the youngest cricketer in history to achieve this feat
India Under-19 sensation Ayush Mhatre is in the headlines once again as he broke the world record in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He became the youngest batsman ever to score 150 or more runs in a List A cricket match.
Ayush Mhatre achieved this milestone during a match between Mumbai and Nagaland played during Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. During this innings he also broke the record previously held by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Ayush Mhatre sets world record in Vijay Hazare Trophy
At 17 years and 168 days, Ayush Mhatre is now the youngest player to score 150 runs or more in List A cricket. Mhatre smashed 181 off just 117 balls at an incredible strike rate of 154.70. He hit 15 fours and 11 sixes during his innings.
It was a superb knock from the India Under-19 opener who grabbed headlines for his sensational performances in the Under-19 Asia Cup, where India lost to Bangladesh in the final.
Earlier the record was held by Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored more than 150 runs at the age of 17 years and 291 days. Jaiswal scored an incredible double hundred against Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019.
The left-hander scored 203 off 154 balls with 17 fours and 12 sixes to help Mumbai win the match. Both Mhatre and Jaiswal are from Mumbai and have shown tremendous batting potential.

Mumbai registered a big win
Meanwhile, it was a superb performance from Mumbai as they bounced back from their loss to Punjab in the previous game. Nagaland were picked to bat first on a good batting surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Mumbai started brilliantly with debutants Ayush Mhatre and Angkrish Raghuvanshi giving them a flying start. Raghuvanshi was dismissed for 56 off 66 balls, but Mhatre continued and continued to play his shots. The opener showed his class and asserted his authority in a magnificent innings that was filled with fours and sixes.
There were no major contributions from the middle order but Prasad Pawar and Shardul Thakur ensured that Mumbai crossed the 400-run mark. Thakur smashed a fiery 73 off just 28 balls with 2 fours and 8 sixes to help Mumbai post 403-8 in 50 overs.
It was always going to be a tall order for Nagaland and they were never in the game. Versatile Jagadeesha Suchith smashed a brilliant hundred and finished on 104 not out off 97 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes.
Shardul Thakur also shone with the ball taking 3-17 in 5 overs. Royston Dias and Suryansh Shedge also claimed two wickets each for Mumbai. With this win, Mumbai are now third in their group with 3 wins and 2 losses.
