In the run-up to next month’s transfer window, which opens tomorrow, Postecoglou has admitted the Lilywhites are in dire need of more options to get them through the 2024/25 campaign.

Destiny Udogie picked up a hamstring problem against Wolves, adding to the club’s injury woes, and Postecoglou lamented the club’s inability to rotate and over-reliance on a core group of players.
“Yeah, I think it was a hamstring,” he said Postecoglou on the current state of Udogie after a 2-2 draw with Wolves.
“Again, like I said, we relied on a core group of players because we just didn’t have the ability to rotate so that they would catch up to us at some point. Unfortunately, Destiny caught up.”
Udogie joins Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Guglielmo Vicari, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert on the treatment table, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Ded Spence also suspended.

This has left Postecoglou with a paper-thin squad ahead of the upcoming clashes with Newcastle United and Arsenal just after the new year, and the Tottenham boss is adamant the club are working hard to bring in new options.
“In the context of where we are at the moment, I think it’s important because if we add what we need to add, and it fits with what we’re trying to do… our league position isn’t great, but it’s super tight and we’re not that far, ” he said Postecoglou in the January window.
“Like I said, we’re in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and we’re still in a great position in Europe and there’s the FA Cup. We’ve still got a lot to play for this year to make this a season where we can have success, but we need help, the players need help, more importantly, and the club is working very hard to try and make it happen.”

According to Mundo Deportivo, the north Londoners are now looking to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding Dani Olmo and his future at Barca.
The Spaniard, as things stand, is free to leave on January 1 at no cost – with Barcelona have until 23:59 tonight to register Olmo in time for the second half of 2024/2025.
Barca have seen multiple appeals to register him rejected, with La Liga’s strict salary cap preventing them from doing so, and the prospect of him leaving without a bond is now becoming more and more real.

The former RB Leipzig star would be quite the capture, but Postecoglou’s side will have to deal with growing interest in £149,000-a-week forward from the other side of the elite.
