Jimmy Carter’s legacy…in his own words


Former US President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100.

Revered for his charitable work at the self-styled Carter Center, every living president has now issued a statement about his career.

In a series of BBC interviews during his lifetime, Carter reflected on how he envisioned his legacy, telling the BBC’s Andrew Marr in 2011 that it was defined by a “commitment to peace”.
