Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly monitoring the uncertainty surrounding Dani Olmo, whose Barcelona registration is set to expire at the end of this month.
As he was only registered as an emergency measure following Andreas Christensen’s injury, Olmo’s temporary registration expires on December 31 and Barcelona are currently unable to renew it.
Barcelona took La Liga to court in an attempt to extend Olmo’s registration, but were unsuccessful, as a judge ruled that the league’s financial regulations were fair and must be followed.
“The purpose of authorizing excessive spending is that a long-term injury does not jeopardize the team’s competition, not that a long-term injury allows the registration of players who exceed the salary cap, which is what Barcelona tried to do,” the court ruled.
The situation is complicated by the proposals with which Olmo signs a contract Barcelona includes a clause that allows him to leave on a free transfer if La Liga fails to register him in their squad.
According to The Timesinterest in Olm’s future is growing, with Arsenal, City and United everyone is watching the proceedings closely.
Barcelona officials have long stressed their commitment to re-registering Olmo and MARCH the Spanish international still believes his future will be settled with little fanfare.
Privately, Barcelona have vowed to do whatever it takes to keep Olmo. They will first appeal the court decision on Monday, but are exploring ways to raise money through new sponsorship deals or director investments, which would give them enough financial freedom to register Olmo.
However, as it stands, Olmo will not be able to represent Barcelona when he returns to action in the Copa del Rey against Barbastro on January 4.
